Our Coastal Cottage Fixer Upper Before and After

BEFOREAFTER
Last year we decided to take on a huge project when we found a cottage at a coastal town two hours away.  This home had be abandonded for 7 years!  So the first BEFORE pictures are disgusting, but real!  We basically had to clean, sanitize and clear out EVERYTHING!

We started on the inside because we purchased the house in the winter and weather didn't allow us to paint for a LONG time!
The bathroom was so bad and moldy that we had to take care of that mess first.  Needless to say, it was a total rip out, including wallboard and some of the studs.  It also had a window above the tub, which had a leak, so we removed it and walled it up.
Next we worked on removing the huge, ugly woodstove that was stuck in the middle of the floor:

After removing the monster from the room we replaced all of the flooring in the home with a neutral vinyl plank.  Then we replaced it with a pretty electric fireplace.  We LOVE it!

KITCHEN
Next came the Kitchen.  We removed everything, cabinets, appliances, and cut out one wall and replaced it with a 1/2 wall.  It is so much more open.  We replaced the cabinets with new white shaker cabinets. For the counter we used custom solid surface that looks like quartz.  It looks like it has a few tiny bits of seaglass in it and we ordered it with an integrated sink for a clean smooth look.
