New driftwood wood burned art piece
Collecting driftwood on our trips to the beach is always fun and becomes the "hunt for the perfect piece for art". I never know what I will make with it exactly until it's been sitting around my collections for a while. I decided to wood burn a scene on the horizontal piece but wanted to elevate it so I had my husband mount it on some dowels in to another piece of driftwood.
Coastal Cottage kitchen update
I finally have the photos of the kitchen back splash my husband put in. He did an amazing job and I think the beachy blue/gray tile adds just the right amount of color splash to the crisp white kitchen:
Lovely Weather at the Beach
We spent the weekend at the beach house doing a few more projects. Gracie thought is was time to hit the beach. So we did find time to get some sun and sand at the shore. The weather was perfect on the Washington Coast!
How to build a Bench in one minute!
I will be posting more photos from our Beach Cottage fixer upper as soon as I can download the info. In the meantime I found this great DIY bench idea. It would also be used as a cabinet. I would screw all of the items together for stability if I liked the results of what I make.
Our Coastal Cottage Fixer Upper Before and After
BEFOREAFTER
Last year we decided to take on a huge project when we found a cottage at a coastal town two hours away. This home had be abandonded for 7 years! So the first BEFORE pictures are disgusting, but real! We basically had to clean, sanitize and clear out EVERYTHING!
Woodburned whale
This nice piece of driftwood had been in my garage and I just knew I had to do a woodburning on it. After woodburned the whale I added grey stain highlights to help it show up against the dark wood. Outdoor art is hard to find and really brings interest to your yard or patio. So far it is on my deck, but I may move it into the yard.
Woodburned Boxes
I have been doing quite a bit of wood burning lately so I got out some boxes I wanted to do and was pleased with the results. They are available on my Etsy site too! They would make great gifts or wedding ring boxes. I always enjoy woodburning!
